A Master is the person aboard having the command or charge of a vessel. The Master does not need to be the person at the helm of the vessel. In the case where a Young person (age under 16) is in command or charge of a Power-driven vessel with engine power greater than 5 horsepower, the Master is the adult (age over 18) who is on the Power-driven vessel and supervising the Young person.
